Formats included? Albums and EPs, no compilations, no singles. The Reid brothers took the idea of sullen, black-leather-clad rebellion to a darker and more inhospitable place than anyone had before. In other words, common perceptions prevail! Psych and noise rock, drone, have not been included. Some contemporary rock acts performing in relative proximity to the ‘scene that celebrates itself’ have been lumped in (despite musical similarities). It almost sounds like a vacuum has been recorded over top of the original recordings rendering the whole thing absolutely unlistenable.

Shoegaze, dream pop and alternative rock (generally considered to be of the same ilk). in doing so, 21 singles proves itself to be both the perfect introduction to the band and the groups most listenable effort. Biased much? I don’t even like ‘Psychocandy’ and it’s in the top ten! So ner. From whose arse did this list come from? Data was collated from a handful of websites (more respectable than this one), numbers were crunched to give each album a rating, poured over by a few music nerds and then sorted and ranked.
